Clear Floor Space: Maintain a clear floor space around the shower, at least 60 inches wide and 30 inches deep, to comply with code 608.2.2, allowing users to approach and use the roll-in shower without obstructions. ⁽¹⁾

Shower Threshold: The threshold to the roll-in shower should be flush with the bathroom floor to prevent tripping hazards and comply with code 608.7. ⁽¹⁾ This allows for smooth entry and exit for wheelchair users. ⁽¹⁾

Shower Seat: A fold-down or built-in shower seat is a crucial component. It should be positioned so that the user can easily transfer from a wheelchair to the shower seat. The seat should comply with code 610.3 and be at a height that allows for a seamless transfer. ⁽¹⁾
